Whitetail Deer Hunts

Our season for hunting trophy whitetails starts early September with bow and arrow. The prime rifle hunts begin the first of November and run throughout the month. Starting in mid July we are out in full force spotting deer, setting up stands, checking trail cameras and taking video of live deer in the area. This is the difference from the outfitter that takes 1 or 2 quality trophies a year and Great White Holdings. The proofs in the pictures!

In 2005 we took several 160+ class trophy bucks 9 of which were over the 170 gross mark including a 190+ typical 5x5, and a book typical 4x4. In 2006 we had another great hunt taking 11 Whitetails scoring over 170 gross, including a 240+ archery kill and a 225.

As any seasoned whitetail hunter knows harvesting trophy deer like these are never easy. However during your stay with Great White your chances of getting an opportunity at a 155+ class whitetail are far better than average.

To be successful hunting the trophy whitetails of central Alberta hunters need to be versatile and ready at all times, you never know when that trophy of a lifetime is going to step out of the brush! We like our hunters to be familiar with their rifles prior to arriving at the Great White camp. Shots will usually range from 50-450 yrds and knowing your ballistics will be a huge advantage on long distance opportunities. You’ll be hunting in a variety of situations from stand hunting in our box blinds and high end tower blinds, spot and stock type, and possibly standing on point during a push/drive or while a big buck is being tracked out of the heavy brush.

Mule Deer Hunts

Not only is Alberta known for it’s trophy whitetails, over the last 6 years the provinces mule deer herd has been on the incline. Through out central Alberta Mule deer are on a draw only system for resident hunters. This combined with few non-resident tags and a healthy rapidly growing population is putting Alberta on the map for one of the top spots in North America to hunt trophy mule deer.

Our mule deer hunters have very high success rates and from 2003-2005 we had 100% success three years running! On average our hunters see between 100-200 deer a day, with an exceptional day being in the 300+ range. With hunters seeing these numbers on a daily basis it’s only a matter of time before that trophy of a lifetime steps out. While on your hunt, spot and stock method along with glassing the rolling hills will be the most productive method for searching out your trophy. Occasionally push/drives are effective as well.

In 2005 we were thrilled to take a 258 non typical the new unofficial provincial archery record (featured in the May/June 2006 issue of Muley Crazy magazine). We were also excited to take a 215 drop tine buck and a 210 that truly were world class deer.

We have a limited number of tags for this tremendous hunt so call now to book your spot for the coming season.
