Banded Ross’s geese
From early September to mid October, the Ross’s goose migration is in full swing through the province of Alberta. Millions of these funny little geese make there way south while stopping to feed and stage along the way. As with most years 2006 brought the hunters of Great White Holdings some Ross hunts most only dream about. Early in September while on one of these hunts a lucky hunter of Great White holdings was able to track down what he’d always been searching for. A banded bird and not just one… three in one limit! One metal band on the first Ross and the second bird with one metal tag and one white plastic neck band! It did’nt end there, not only did we get the banded birds but it was also a hunt none of us will ever forget as the limit toped out at over 100 geese.
Congratulations to our friend George and his new bands! As well as the rest of the group that morning who made it such a memorable hunt.
